Government Capital finances energy conservation project for Wills Point ISD Energy project reduces operational costs for district
Southlake, Texas. (May 17, 2017) Government Capital Corporation, a leading provider of financing for Texas school districts, announced today the funding of a $2.8 million energy conservation project financing for Wills Point Independent School District. The structure utilized energy savings as the primary source of repayment and did not require a bond election.
“The mission of the school board includes providing safe and efficient facilities. We worked for many months to develop this project and are confident it will reduce our utility costs and improve the learning environment for our students.” stated Scott Caloss, Superintendent of Schools for Wills Point ISD. “Government Capital provided a competitive financing structure which saved the district thousands of dollars when compared to other alternatives.”
The financing structures utilized by Government Capital are authorized under state borrowing authorities for all public school districts and offer access to low, tax-exempt interest rates through Government Capital’s resources in the capital markets.
“I want to congratulate Wills Point ISD for being proactive in upgrading their facilities and maximizing their limited operational resources,” stated Ed King, Government Capital Corporation Senior Vice President. “Like most school districts in Texas, Wills Point ISD is continually being asked to do more with less. We at Government Capital are proud to have partnered with the district on a project which will deliver tremendous benefits to the district.”
