Texas Independent School District Launches Energy Conservation Project
Desoto, Texas (August 2017) – DeSoto Independent School District announced the implementation of an energy conservation project which will include retrofitting or replacing lights, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and controls. The $5 million undertaking was financed by Government Capital Corporation.
As a result, the energy savings from the new equipment and controls will provide the primary source of repayment for the Public Property Finance Act Contract. In addition, the anticipated savings will offset the debt service for the life of the contract.
Bobby Laborde, Chief Financial Officer of DeSoto ISD stated, “Government Capital’s process was straightforward. Securing the funds for this project could have been very complex. GCC made it simple and clear.”
“Upgrades and improvement of educational facilities create comfortable places for students to learn and staff to teach. This project will positively impact every student in the district and we are proud to partner with DeSoto ISD to make it happen,” said Kevin Lerner, Senior Vice President of Government Capital.
