For 20 years, Government Capital Corporation has been involved with awarding annual scholarships to deserving young students graduating from high school. Kevin Lerner, Government Capital Securities Corporation Municipal Advisor and Senior Vice President with Government Capital Corporation, was instrumental in getting GCC involved over 2 decades ago. GCC is one of the longest running sponsors of the Texas Rural Education Association (TREA). Since 1992, the TREA has been dedicated to improving teaching and learning in the rural schools of Texas.

Whitington and Jana Offutt, Client Services Representative, were in attendance at the 26th annual TREA Summer Conference on June 27, 2018 at the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Hotel & Golf Club at Champions Circle near the Texas Motor Speedway. GCC was privileged to award scholarships to Tabitha McKinney of Cisco ISD and Ashlynn Eubanks from Chapel Hill ISD.

Hasley, Oregon (June 2018) – Central Linn School District No. 552C announces a project to provide roof renovations district wide. The project will focus on the High School and Elementary School. These renovations are expected to be completed during the summer of 2018. Central Linn School District selected Government Capital Corporation as the financing partner. GCC partnered with James Shannon of Mersereau Shannon LLP in Portland (www.mershanlaw.com), who provided the legal opinion and all necessary documents.
Lamesa, Texas (June 2018) – The City of Lamesa, Texas recently announced the order of a new pumper truck. The truck will be a 2019 model 1200 GPM Pumper is being manufactured by the Rosenbauer Group. With an anticipated delivery of Spring of 2019, the new apparatus will be located at the City’s Fire Department on North 1st Street. The City of Lamesa selected Government Capital Corporation as the financing partner for their purchase.
Sunray, Texas (June 2018) – The Sunray Independent School District of Sunray, Texas announced a facility improvement project for the athletic department. The project includes resurfacing the track, renovations to the tennis courts and updating the auditorium lighting. These projects are expected to be completed during the summer of 2018. Sunray ISD selected Government Capital Corporation as the most economical financing solution.
