Ville Platte, Louisiana (August 2025) – The City of Ville Platte announces city-wide upgrades to their water and gas metering system. The city’s previous system had been in place for fifteen years, and the smart meter technology was failing and causing inaccurate billing. The upgrade will replace all utility meters city-wide and install three base stations with antennas and repeaters throughout the city to communicate meter data.
Baton Rouge WinWater provided the equipment for the project and is in the process of installing the 3,500 water meters. The city is currently installing the 1,120 gas meters. The project is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. Financing for the project was provided by Government Capital Corporation of Southlake, TX.
“The City of Ville Platte is extremely grateful for partnering with Government Capital throughout this process,” Ryan LeDay Williams, Mayor of the City of Ville Platte, stated. “From start to finish, it has been a smooth and professional experience. The team at Gov Cap understood our needs, guided us through the financing options, and helped make this critical project a reality. Thank you, Government Capital, for standing with the City of Ville Platte as we take important steps to modernize our infrastructure and provide better services to our community.”
“I want to extend congratulations to Mayor Williams and the City of Ville Platte on their crucial city-wide utility meter upgrade,” D. C. Greer, Senior Vice President of Government Capital Corporation, commented. “We take great pride in partnering with Louisiana cities to achieve their goals and objectives to provide the best living experiences for their communities.”
