Pecos, Texas (February 2024) – Reeves County ESDs 1 & 2 announce the launch of their Station 4 and Certified Training Facility construction project. The new ESD station, located on the north side of the City of Pecos, will improve response times and the district’s ability to safely handle emergency situations.
The training facility will be used to provide Basic Structural Firefighter academies certified by the Texas Commission of Fire Protection. Additionally, the facility will host Emergency Medical Services Academies. The facility will include a training tower, a 100-person classroom, a state-of-the-art EMS simulator mannequin, and the only full cadaver lab in the region specifically designed for EMS professionals.
Among the vehicles and apparatus acquired as part of this project is an AMBUS, a large capacity mobile emergency response vehicle. The AMBUS gives the ESDs the ability to respond to disasters and provide emergency care and transport for local, regional, and statewide disasters. The vehicle will serve as a mass-rehab unit for extended events and will benefit the region as a resource to fill the gap between El Paso and Midland/Odessa.
The new station and training facility are being designed by Martinez Architects, Houston, Texas. Financing for the project was arranged by Government Capital Corporation, Southlake, Texas.
“There are currently few training facilities that address training needs specific to this area’s Oil and Natural Gas industry.
